Why Do We Fall?
That is the question that is asked over and over again in one of my favorite movies, Batman Begins. It is not only a line in a movie but a great lesson in life. The answer of course is “So that we can learn to pick ourselves up”
As I think about that great truth of living life it creates a stir deep in my soul that could easily bring me to tears. I have fallen MANY MANY times in my 32 years on this earth and I have always picked myself back up.
As this relates to losing weight I would give you these two rules.
#1. You must make a lifestyle change that you can do forever! You must have a clear and doable plan that you will stick to no matter what. And you must NEVER cheat! NEVER, EVER, EVER!!!!!!!!
and
#2. When you cheat, you must not give up. You must then pick yourself back up again!
I know I said not to cheat but you are human and you probably will. Here is a little trick to help.
Lets say you freak out and eat an entire cheese pizza all by yourself one day for lunch. When dinner arrives you will be tempted to say “well I am already off of my diet I might as well eat what I want for dinner too”. This is the way you will get off of a program permanently and be “The Big Guy” forever. The correct thing to do is to tell yourself that if you stop now and get back on the program you will not even be able to see it on the scales. I learned this from my wife and it works great.
The best way to keep from falling is to have a plan that allows you to fall ocassionally on purpose. In one of my next posts I will tell you my eating plan and give you the reasons why it works so well.
